Elaine Winter is a Nottinghamshire based artist who mixes traditional and experimental printmaking processes with other media. Her work is based around investigations of how we, as humans, relate to each other, with a focus on the uniquely human ability to express empathy.
She works as an arts educator throughout Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire schools, is part of the team of artist practitioners at Inspire and is an Associate Artist at both Nottingham Lakeside Arts and New Art Exchange. She teaches adult workshops at Nottingham Playhouse and for ArtSpeak. She has experience of working with all ages from early years (including as Creative Practitioner for Ignite! Curious Tots programme) upwards and has worked with able and disabled adults, including those living with dementia and people receiving hospice care.
Elaine is originally from Middlesbrough, studied for a degree in the Practice and Theory of Visual Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design. She has had solo exhibitions, exhibited with Newark Fine Art Printmakers and had work selected for international print shows and is a winner of the Harley Prize.
