Elaine Winter

Elaine Winter is an artist who is primarily a painter and printmaker but also works in mixed media.  Her recent work is a mixture of portraits, figurative work and images derived from studies of the human figure.  For her recent solo exhibition she produced a series of original prints using intaglio and monoprint techniques based around an exploration of identity, ancestral past and community.  

Elaine Winter was born in Middlesbrough in 1967 but lived and worked in London from 1988-2001. She studied for a degree in the Practice and Theory of Visual Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design, graduating in 1998.  She took part in various group exhibitions whilst at Chelsea and had work selected for a London Institute show.  Since moving to Newark upon Trent in 2001, she has taken part in open studios, held solo exhibitions and exhibited with Newark Fine Art Printmakers.
